--Explanations--

  • The first woman to die in a car crash:

She ended up getting in a crash due to the distractions outside of the car. Another car hit her head on while she wasn't watching the road.

  • The first in-car radio system killed dozens of people:

Music can be as distracting as a cellphone, and passengers added to this distraction by turning up the volume, changing the music, pushing buttons, etc..

  • The cigarette lighter for the car was invented:

The cigarette lighter was meant for an easy way to do things in the car. This; however, enabled people to do distracting things in the car and multi-task while driving.

  • The cell phone was invented... leading to many accidents

This kept drivers from focusng on the road, and it caused many deaths.

  • The portable DVD player was made:

Multi-tasking never works in the car, and watching movis requires eyes and ears, which distracts the driver from the road.
